Horse box parking at Selhurst and Droke
The Forestry Commission have recently made available a parking area for horseboxes and trailers at Selhurst.  The area is off Selhurst Park Road, about 500 yds west of its junction with the A285 and at the eastern end of the permissive path that runs parellel to Selhurst Park Road.   There is a barrier with a combination lock which is operated by the same number as the new one used at the Forestry Commission parking area at Droke.
If you would like access to these parking areas please telephone me on 01243 575484 or Tricia Butcher (West Sussex BHS Access Representative) on 01293 886446.   A register of users has to be kept so you will need to let us have your name, address and telephone number when you are given the combination number, which should not be passed on to others without giving notification of their details.   -   Val Bateman

Le Trec – WSRC members Becky and Val Bateman took part in their first pairs Le Trec competition on the 9th May at Compton and had a very successful day being placed 3rd overall out of 16 pairs. A very big well done. Becky has kindly agreed to run Le Trec training for the WSRC – please see the following for information (details also on training page)

Le Trec - Just a bit about le trec, it is an equestrian sport for every one you do not need an all singing all dancing horse/pony to have a go.
There are three phase's

1 -   POR PHASE (orienteering) they also do a versatile le trec where this phase is replaced by a dressage/obedience test
2 - COP PHASE (control of paces)
3 - PTV PHASE (obstacle course) usually a course of 16 obstacles some would be led
it is great for young horses and for building confidence between horse and rider.
PTV marked on a points system 10 points for each obstacle can be gained some on style some on gait though a obstacle.(if there is an obstacle you do not want to, it does matter you just do not get those 10 points for that obstacle)
POR you start with 240 points and then you have points deducted if you miss a check point, incorrect map reading and error of pace
COP showing that a rider is capable of influencing their horse's paces by making their horse go slowly at canter and quickly at walk within a marked path, the slower the canter the more points gained the faster the walk the more points gained, no points if you break pace there are 60 points up for grabs
It is great fun, please come along and have a go.
Becky
